"Parliament to debate critical issues effecting Tamils. Several International Dignitaries to speak"Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam's (TGTE) Parliamentary Session is scheduled from December 2nd, 2016 to December 4th, 2016 in Paris. Opening Session is to take place in the French Parliament. Several international dignitaries, including from Kurdistan and South Sudan, are speaking during the opening Session. TGTE Members of Parliament (MPs) from around the world along with TGTE Members of the Senate are convening in Paris for this Parliament Session. The Speaker of the TGTE Parliament Mr. Balachandran will inaugurate the Session and will Chair the debate on the Resolutions submitted by the Members of Parliament. For this Parliamentary session TGTE have chosen “Changing world order and the place of small struggling nations in their quest for freedom" and “Will the Sri Lankan State structure ever accommodate the aspirations of the Tamil Nation?” as the themes. The first theme was formulated based on the changing of the current world order. This change is marked by the rise of populism, retreat/excess of globalization, BREXIT, and the victory of Donald Trump. The second theme was formulated based on outrage of Buddhist monks in two separate incidents in the last fortnight, one against Tamil government officials and the other against Muslim activists with no action from the Sri Lankan State to date. Additional critical issues, including upcoming March Session of the UN Human Rights Council and holding a Referendum among Eelam Tamils to find their wishes through a democratic process, will also be discussed. This sitting follows worldwide memorial events to remember tens of thousands of Tamils who were killed and Tamil women sexually assaulted and raped by the Sri Lankan security forces in the final months of the war that ended in 2009.
