A Call for your Action!

In 2018, the Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) applied for the removal of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) from the proscribed organisations list in the UK. Unfortunately, the Home Office decided at the time to continue the proscription.

However, we appealed to the Proscribed Organisations Appeal Commission (POAC). On 21 Oct 2020, and the Commission issued an open judgement on the matter.

The POAC found that then Home Secretary “materially misstated” the conclusions reached by its own expert body, the Proscription Review Group.  when he made the decision to keep the LTTE on the list of proscribed organisations.

The POAC also found that the submission carried an inaccurate summary of the views of JTAC (the Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre). POAC considered these matters to be a “serious concern” and, therefore, held that the decision to maintain the LTTE on the proscribed organisations list was flawed.

As most of you know, when the original decision of the Home Secretary was quashed as a result of TGTE winning its appeal, the Home Secretary requested the POAC to allow time for them to reconsider the de-proscription application. On February 18, the POAC accepted the Home Secretary’s undertaking that she would reconsider the application to de-proscribe the LTTE.

Our task now is to urge the Home Secretary, Rt. Hon. Priti Patel, to remove the proscription on the LTTE. This is where we need your support and action.

We simply want you to use the online tool to contact your Member of Parliament (MP) with a request to write to the Home Secretary calling for de-proscription.

Your action involves two steps which should take just one minute flat to complete:

One, enter your post code in the box to help us find your MP and generate an email to him/her.
