JAFFNA, SRI LANKA:

The Chief Minister further stated that “(t)hose who committed the genocidal attacks during the Second World War are being traced and prosecuted even today. That shows that the world’s expectation and reflection is – Justice should not be denied at any cost.” Chief Minister Justice C.V. Vigneswaran also emphasized the need for an international investigation.

The Parliament of the Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam passed a resolution on February 11, 2015, welcoming the Northern Provincial Council’s resolution that called the atrocities committed on the Tamils as “genocide.”

The NPC resolution, tabled by the Chief Minister, Honorable Justice C.V. Vigneswaran and Mr. M.K. Shivajilingam, stated inter alia:

“…for those who seek justice for the “ Genocide “committed on the Tamil speaking people by the successive Sri Lankan Governments, this will be a firm resolution “
Further the resolution added, “We earnestly expect justice from the international investigation, after we suffered series of Genocidal attacks, and express our heart’s feelings to the world body.”

The Honorable Chief Minister, Mr. C.V. Vigneswaran in his statement made on February 10, 2015 emphasized that what is committed on the Tamils is in fact “ Genocide “ and a timely resolution was passed by the Council unanimously.

These statements clearly show that the people of our homeland and the diaspora community jointly seek remedial justice from the international investigation for the atrocities committed on the Tamils.

The Resolution demonstrates the political courage of the Northern Provincial Council.

It is pertinent to refer to a similar resolution passed by the Tamil Nadu State Assembly under the leadership of Honorable Selvi Jeyalalitha.

It is pointed out that the Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam also passed a resolution, in its third parliamentary sitting in December 2011 in Buffalo New York, characterizing the Mullaivaikaal Massacre as an act of genocide, and called for an international investigation. It also published a booklet in 2011 coinciding with the 19th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, entitled, We Accuse: War Crimes and Genocide, A Brief for an Independent International Investigation.

The resolutions by the Northern Provincial Council, Tamil Nadu State Assembly, and the TGTE Parliament demonstrate the consensus among the Tamils across the globe, and their determination to pursue remedial justice at all costs.

The thirst of Tamils is Tamil Eelam.
